The Disneyland Report > Disney News > South Korea may get a Disneyland Disney NewsSouth Korea may get a Disneyland(Big News Network) The city of Seoul, South Korea, and the Walt Disney Company have been discussing plans to create an amusement park. Mouse-house officials recently visited Seoul to discuss details of the plan with city officials, the Korea Times reported Sunday. The project to establish a Disneyland is part of the company's plan to expand its business in the Asian market. The Walt Disney Company opened a theme park in Tokyo in 1983, and another is currently under construction in Hong Kong. The company has also expressed plans to build another park in Shanghai sometime in the 2010s. If the theme park is set up, it would create a lot of jobs for Korean people and bring other economic benefits for the surrounding area, a Seoul City official said. The plan to establish a large-scale theme park near Seoul was a campaign
pledge made by Mayor Lee Myung-bak during the election in 2002. Return to Disney News. |
