Guns return to Jungle Cruise boats at Disneyland

Weapons shoot blanks at hippos once again

Guns have returned to the boats at the Jungle Cruise attraction in Adventureland at Disneyland. The Jungle Cruise guns are used in the hippo pool scene, where Jungle Cruise skippers fire blanks at the "angry" hippos that are wiggling their ears.

Guests can now once again hear the two shots echoing through the forest from that scene.

The guns on the attraction had been removed when Paul Pressler was president of the Disneyland Resort.

The removal of guns was criticized by fans of the original Jungle Cruise and was seen as caving into pressure to be politically correct, along the lines of changing the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where the pirates were chasing women to make it appear as if the pirates were chasing after the food the women were holding.

The Jungle Cruise attraction is rumored to undergo a major renovation near the beginning of the attraction at the rainforest scene, which may become more isolated from the queue of the Indiana Jones Adventure.
