The Disneyland Report > Disney News > Disney workers in Fla. reject contract offer Disney NewsDisney workers in Fla. reject contract offerBy CBS MarketWatch SAN FRANCISCO -- Union workers representing about half the staff at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., overwhelmingly rejected a contract proposal Friday. Officials of the Service Trades Council, an alliance of six unions with workers at Disney theme parks in the area, opposed the company's offer to eliminate some overtime provisions, increase health insurance and eliminate a pension plan for new hires with the offer instead of a 401(k) plan. The Orlando Sentinel said the vote was 3,659-96 against the three-year pact, which offered 4 percent raises and a $400 signing bonus. Disney (DIS) maintains its proposal is competitive. Both sides will resume negotiations Oct. 12, the Sentinel said. The Orlando operation, with about 53,000 workers, includes four theme parks. Return to Disney News. |
