The Disneyland Report > Disney News > Walt Disney World and Disneyland celebrate fall with events Disney NewsWalt Disney World and Disneyland celebrate fall with eventsThe Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts kicked off several exciting events October 1 to begin celebrating the fall season. Epcot at Walt Disney World began its popular International Food and Wine Festival, which lasts from Oct. 1 through Nov. 14. The culinary and cultural celebration allows visitors to sample foods and wines from over 20 international marketplaces. Guests stroll about Epcot's World Showcase from country to country, enjoying cuisine from various lands. This year's International Food and Wine Festival actually began two weeks earlier to accommodate the popularity of the event. Also at Walt Disney World is the popular Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, held at the Magic Kingdom park. The event provides trick-or-treating opportunities inside the park, a chance to ride "scary" rides, and a special Halloween fireworks show over Cinderella Castle. At Disneyland, the always-busy Haunted Mansion Holiday reopened on October 1. The "Nightmare Before Christmas" overlay of perennial favorite The Haunted Mansion once again features Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws, bringing his special version of the holiday season to Disneyland. Also at Disneyland, although unrelated to Halloween, Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps, Lenny Krayzelburg, and Ian Crocker will make an appearance at the theme park to conclude Disney's Swim with the Stars tour, which has taken them around the country. Michael Phelps is expected to swim down a pool built down Main Street, USA just for this event. For more information:
