Hurricane Jeanne is currently moving north of due west at about 13 miles per hour with winds of up to 110 miles per hour as it passed north of Lake Okeechobee, according to the National Hurricane Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The storm weakened to a Category 2 storm after hitting land in Florida, but it is still capable of creating much damage to Florida. Hurricane Jeanne's predicted path continues to be through Central Florida on Sunday and then up through the middle of Georgia on Monday, according to the NOAA projected path map. A hurricane warning for Florida's west coast (from Englewood to the Suwanee River) has been issued by the National Weather Center, and a hurricane warning continues to be in effect from Hallandale to St. Augustine, including Lake Okeechobee. The Walt Disney World Resort, as well as several other Orlando-area theme parks, closed its theme parks and water parks on Sunday in preparation for the severe weather from Hurricane Jeanne that could cause serious damage at Walt Disney World. The parks were last closed earlier this month, when Hurricane Frances threatened much damage to Walt Disney World.
