(Orlando CVB) has just completed a site tour of the Metro Orlando area's visitor corridor including the Orange County Convention Center, airports, and major theme parks, and is pleased to report that the destination did not sustain significant damage as a result of the recent Hurricanes Charley and Frances. "Our hotels and attractions experienced only minimal disruptions in service to our guests during the storms and quickly resumed normal operations immediately following the storms," said Bill Peeper, president of the Orlando CVB. "In fact, Orlando's major attractions opened their doors to visitors on the day following both storms." The following outlines the status of visitor offerings in the Orlando area: Airports: Orlando International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport are fully operational. Attractions: Orlando-area attractions are open and operating on normal schedules including SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Orlando, and Walt Disney World Resort. The area's shopping malls, restaurants, dinner shows and other entertainment options are open with normal business hours. Accommodations: Only two of Orlando's 453 hotels are closed for post-storm repairs. All other hotels, vacation ownership properties and vacation rental homes sustained no major damage during the storm, have power and are open for business. Conventions & Trade Shows: The Orange County Convention Center sustained no damage during the storm and is fully operational. The Florida Restaurant Show which was to be held at the Orange County Convention Center on September 10 - 12 has been rescheduled for October 22 - 24, 2004. Other information: Cruise lines have resumed normal operations at Port Canaveral. Orlando's tourism corridor has retained all essential services including electricity, telephone, postal and delivery services. There are no gasoline or grocery shortages in Orlando.
