Movie company with ties to Disney eyes P.V. for film

PENNSVILLE TWP. -- It could be lights, camera, action for Pennsville one day this fall.

Mother B Productions -- affiliated with Walt Disney Co.'s Buena Vista Pictures -- has expressed interest in shooting at Riverview Beach Park and a nearby residence for the movie "Annapolis," according to township officials. The company would likely set up shop here for one day in October.

Representatives the company have been in contact with township officials and addressed the committee at its workshop meeting last week.

"It's a pretty sure thing," said Committeeman Bernard Sennstrom in a later interview, adding that the company would have to adhere to the same procedures as any other organization using the park.

The Disney feature film concerns a troubled young man who makes his dreams of attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. a reality, according to The Associated Press. It stars James Franco of "Spiderman" and "Spiderman 2."

Parking could be a concern in the park, considering the amount of equipment and crew such productions entail, according to Sennstrom, and the operation will likely have to be coordinated with local police.

"I think it's fine as long as they don't come in and destroy the integrity of the park," said Mayor Richard Barnhart. "I'm sure it won't be any kind of financial boon to the township."
