"Around the World at Epcot" is a new guest experience that allows guests to operate the two-wheeled, one-person transportation device throughout World Showcase. "Our guests will get the very unique experience of riding through several countries and observing the beautiful architecture from a different point of view," said John Eric Sovocool, Innoventions show manager. Innoventions, Epcot's technology playground, has featured the first public display of the Segway HT since 2002. The display includes interactive stations and daily demonstrations by cast members on how the product works. The Segway HT is the world's first self-balancing human transporter that allows people to go farther, move more quickly and increase the amount they can carry anywhere a person can walk. Its advanced technology uses gyroscopes and tilt sensors to emulate human balance. When a person leans slightly forward, the Segway HT moves forward. When leaning back, the Segway HT moves back. Riders can travel up to 12.5 mph with a distance that ranges 17 miles on a single charge. "Around the World at Epcot" is a two-hour experience that is available to 10 guests a day. The cost is $80 per person and Epcot admission is required. Guests can call 407/WDW-TOUR for more information.
