The Disneyland Report > Disney News > Walt Disney World Hurricane Ivan update: Walt Disney World Resort expected to be spared from worst of Hurricane Ivan Disney NewsWalt Disney World Hurricane Ivan news updateWalt Disney World Resort expected to be spared from worst of Hurricane IvanThe projected path for Hurricane Ivan according to the Hurricane Ivan projected path map provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) now shows Hurricane Ivan moving slightly westward before curving eastward and making landfall Wednesday night or early Thursday, avoiding Central Florida and the Walt Disney World Resort. Now having passed western Cuba, residents of Florida's panhandle and the state of Alabama are preparing for what could be a devastating impact from Hurricane Ivan. The Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando should not be severely impacted by Hurricane Ivan, which has already hit Cuba, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Grenada, as the projected path of the deadly hurricane has moved much farther west of Walt Disney World. There should not be the damage at Walt Disney World seen after Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances because the Disney theme parks are not in the path of the major hurricane like they were in the two earlier hurricanes. This will be a welcome break for Walt Disney World from the destruction and damage caused by the earlier storms. However, this is not to say that the weather at Walt Disney World won't be impacted by the nearby weather phenomenon of Hurricane Ivan. Weather forecasts from The Weather Channel for the Walt Disney World
Resort area call for rain, showers, and thunderstorms as Hurricane Ivan
storms up the Gulf of Mexico off the west coast of Florida and heading
towards the Florida panhandle and Alabama and Tennessee. Return to Disney News. |
