The Disneyland Report > Disney News > Hurricane Ivan update: Hurricane Ivan projected path now steers clear from Central Florida Disney NewsHurricane Ivan updateHurricane Ivan projected path now steers clear from Central Florida and Walt Disney WorldThe five-day projected path for Hurricane Ivan, which has already left a wide path of devastation across Grenada, the Cayman Islands, and Jamaica, now looks to steer clear of most of Central Florida and South Florida, according to a Hurricane Ivan projected path map provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The hurricane is likely to hit western Cuba hard before continuing up the Gulf of Mexico. This news means that Walt Disney World is not likely to be impacted by Hurricane Ivan. Hurricane Ivan, once expected to hit the Florida Keys and prompting an evacuation for residents of South Florida, now has a projected path that shows it hitting the Florida panhandle and continue inland through Alabama, the NOAA map projects. Hurricane Ivan now appears to be steering clear of Central Florida and the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando area. This will be good news for Walt Disney World, which had to close some of its theme parks for several days for Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances, both of which caused noticeable damage to the resorts, including many downed trees and some structural damage. The parks prepared for those hurricanes, though, so damage at the Walt Disney World Resort was minimized. Special thanks to the NOAA
for its help in this Hurricane Ivan update. Return to Disney News. |
