Pirates of the Caribbean craze turns Adventureland at Hong Kong Disneyland into Pirateland
Hong Kong Disneyland's Adventureland, the largest of any Disney theme park around the world, has been transformed into Pirateland, in conjunction with the release of the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
Pirate Takeover debuted at Hong Kong Disneyland on May 4 and runs until June 30. The temporary overlay of a pirate theme to turn Adventureland into Pirateland features new entertainment for Hong Kong Disneyland guests, including decorations, games, characters, music, and other interactive experiences.
"The Pirate Takeover marks the first time ever that Hong Kong Disneyland has created such a large-scale themed land overlay in the park. We trust that our guests will be as excited as we are to experience this completely new, first-of-its-kind entertainment experience," said Jill Estorino, senior vice president of marketing at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Pirateland is the headquarters for a band of roving pirates. They have redecorated the entrance to Adventureland and invite guests to enjoy some pirate fun with them.
Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Boot Camp invites guests to learn how to be a pirate. Mirabella, a fortuneteller, offers some predictions of the future, while a Pirates Procession features music and rhythms. Various pirate-themed games around the land offer opportunities for fun, and characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto dressed in pirate costumes are available for photos.
The restaurants at Adventureland will feature new menu items as part of the Pirateland overlay. The Pirate View Cafe and Tahitian Terrace will offer dishes such as Jack's Treasure Pot, Captain Hook's Butcher's Cut, and savory crepes.
Special pirates merchandise will be on sale as well.
Walt Disney Pictures' "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" opens May 24 at 8 p.m.
