Disneyland announced today that Disney fans can purchase tickets to attend the star-studed world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The premiere for the third installment of the extremely popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will be held at Disneyland on May 19.
Beginning April 13, Disneyland began selling tickets for the premiere, where Pirates 3, At World's End will first be presented, along with the stars of the film and other invited Hollywood celebrities. Each ticket is priced at $1,500 with the proceeds being donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Disney hopes to raise $3 million from ticket sales and the premiere to donate to the charity. The premiere tickets include a buffet dinner, popcorn and soda during the film, and access to most attractions on the west side of Disneyland.
Excitement runs high among Disney and Disneyland fans for the premiere of the new Prirates of the Caribbean movie. Last year, for the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Zac Efron, Helen Mirren, Tony Hawk, Christian Slater,
and Channing Tatum appeared. The three main stars, Keira Knightly, Johnny Depp, and Orlando Bloom are set to return for the Pirates 3 premiere. The highly anticipated casting of musician Keith Richards (an inspiration for the portrayal of character Captain Jack Sparrow, according to Johnny Depp) may also lead to his appearance at the premiere.
The premieres of the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films were at Disneyland, home of the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, upon which the Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer films are based. Once again, Main Street, USA will be transformed into an extended red carpet for celebrity arrivals. In the Rivers of America and New Orleans Square areas of Disneyland, giant bleachers and a huge movie screen will be constructed for the special premiere.
Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End continues the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who must be freed from Davy Jones' locker. Luckily, he's aided by Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightly), as well as Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). This film also introduces a new pirate, Sao Feng, played by Chow Yun-Fat. The movie will open in theaters around the country on May 25, 2007.
