Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest premieres at Disneyland
Walt Disney Pictures premiered its latest film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest at Disneyland on Saturday, setting the stage for the anticipated film's nationwide release next Friday.
With media and Disneyland guests lining a red carpet set up on Main Street, USA, a long line of celebrities entered the premiere held at Disneyland, which closed early for the event. Those watching the red carpet arrivals were entertained by actors and actresses dressed up as pirates. Many park guests themselves were dressed like pirates to get into the spirit.
The red carpet stretched from the beginning of Main Street all the way down and around the Central Plaza area, or Hub, and led to the entrance to Adventureland, through which guests entered to the screening area.
Among those appearing on the red carpet: primary Dead Man's Chest stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightly; Pirates of the Caribbean film director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer; Arnold Schwarzenegger; Jennifer Love Hewitt; Roseanne; Christina Applegate; Pat Reilly; Dennis Rodman; Tony Hawk; Marilyn Manson; Mark Hoppus, and many other sports and entertainment stars.
Johnny Depp, who was voted one of the autograph-friendliest celebrities in Hollywood, greeted Disneyland guests lining the red carpet at his own pace, but when he became late for the film's screening, officials ushered him down the rest of the red carpet, leaving some fans to see him for only seconds.
The celebrities and other invited guests were treated to dinner around Frontierland and New Orleans Square in Disneyland and then found their seats in a specially-constructed stadium around the Rivers of America. There, they saw the new film, which was projected onto a large screen built across the river on Tom Sawyer Island.
The guests were also allowed to ride the just-reopened Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, the original Disneyland ride that inspired the films in the first place. The ride now features new Audio-Animatronics of lead character Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp.
