Disney and Pixar's Cars opens nationwide

Cars, the latest film from Pixar, opens nationwide today, June 9.
Directed by John Lasseter, the master storyteller behind Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and the upcoming Toy Story 3, Cars tells the story of Lightning McQueen, a winning racing superstar who learns there's more to life than winning the race.
Along his journey through Route 66, McQueen stops by Radiator Springs, a small town that has seen better days. He befriends its inhabitants including rusty towtruck Mater, motel owner Sally Carrera, and the town leader with a mysterious past, Doc Hudson.
Cars features the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Paul Newman, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Keaton, and other celebrities. It also features voice cameos by Jay Leno, Bob Costas, and racing legends Mario Andretti, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Richard Petty.
Every Pixar film, from Toy Story to 2004's The Incredibles has been a critical and commercial success. Pixar's latest film, The Incredibles, earned more than $260 million at the box office. Eyes are now on the opening weekend revenue for Cars to see if this latest Disney and Pixar release will be a hit.
