Disneyland Resort debuts inaugural Disney’s California Food and Wine Weekends today
The Disneyland Resort kicks off the first ever Disney’s California Food and Wine Weekends today at Disney’s California Adventure theme park and Disneyland Resort restaurants and hotels.
From today and every weekend (Thursday through Sunday) until May 21, Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival will celebrate the tastes of California with famous California wines and new culinary creations.
Here's a rundown of some of the events at this collection of food and wine events, modeled on a smaller scale after Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival, which has been a hit for years now at Walt Disney World.
Each Thursday evening through the duration of Disney’s California Food and Wine Weekends, the Napa Rose restaurant located in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will feature a Celebrity Chef Dinner with star chefs. Participants include Chef James Boyce, Chef Michael White, Chef Carl Schroeder, and Chef Michael Cimarusti. Each chef will present their own menus complete with wine pairings.
On Fridays of each Food and Wine Weekend, the Winemaker Dinners allow guests to experience a multi-course meal, also with wine pairings, at the alternating locations The Vineyard Room at Disney’s California Adventure park or the Disneyland Hotel’s Granville’s Steakhouse. Representatives from Chalone Vineyards, Silver Oak Vineyards, and Francis Ford Coppola’s winery “The Rubicon Estate” will be on hand to discuss wines.
Each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the event weekends, various wine and food stands inside Disney’s California Adventure park allow guests to sample tastes and learn.
The Festival Marketplaces will feature small samples of gourmet food for $4-5 at small stations inside the park. Elswhere inside Disney's California Adventure park, Wine, Beer, and Spirits Seminars will feature experts on fine spirits for a 45-minute talk.
Disneyland Resort chefs will also provide demonstrations in the Vineyard Room at Disney’s California Adventure. Other culinary experiences include “Lunch and Learn” lunch seminars where guests can learn about the art of cooking while enjoying a three-course meal, as well as the Guest Sommelier Education Seminars, which is an introduction to wine tasting.
