Walt Disney Pictures' Meet the Robinsons trailer released online
Walt Disney Pictures has released the first Meet the Robinsons trailer, a year in advance of the film's planned theatrical release of March, 2007. The trailer can be viewed at http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/robinsons/index.html
The trailer for the upcoming film appeared at screenings of the Disney-distributed film The Wild, as well as on the internet.
Meet the Robinsons is the second completely computer animated feature length film created by the Walt Disney Company (and not by Pixar), the first being the popular Chicken Little.
The film is based on the novel “A Day with Wilbur Robinson” by William Joyce and is about a Lewis, a 12-year-old inventor.
When Lewis invents the Memory Scanner with the hope of learning about his familial past, the device is stolen by the evil villain the Bowler Hat Guy and his devilish hat, Doris.
Lewis meets Wilbur Robinson, who takes him into the future in a time machine. Lewis meets Wilbur Robinson’s whimsical family and discovers a new world of the future. There they track down the Memory Scanner and find out more about the amazing Robinson family.
The trailer features an interesting gag featuring classic rides from Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, except the land is called “Todayland.” The premise is that the characters are so far in the future that the futuristic attractions imagined for Disneyland’s Tomorrowland are now commonplace and from the present. It could also be a subtle jab at how easily Tomorrowland becomes outdated.
Perhaps Meet the Robinsons will inspire new theme park attractions and in Tomorrowland at Disneyland!
