The Disneyland Report > Disney News > First Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend scheduled for September 2006 at Disneyland Resort Disney NewsFirst Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend scheduled for September 2006 at Disneyland ResortDust off those running shoes -- Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet and Mickey Mouse announced today plans for the inaugural Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend scheduled for September 15-17, 2006. Nearly 10,000 runners are expected to participate in the "Happiest Race on Earth," a 13.1-mile road race that will take runners through Disney's California Adventure and Disneyland Park. Runners will cruise such world-renown attractions as the Matterhorn and Sleeping Beauty Castle on their way to Angel Stadium and Arrowhead Pond then finally to the race's finish line at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney where every participant will be awarded with a medal in the shape of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Other events during the weekend will include the Disneyland Family Fun Run 5K & Kids' Races and the Disneyland Health & Fitness Expo at the Disneyland Hotel. The Disneyland Health and Fitness Expo will feature celebrity runner appearances, the latest trends in running apparel, technology and fitness equipment along with seminars on training, racing and nutrition, and will be open to the public free of charge. The weekend is built off the successful 13-year history of The Walt Disney World Marathon that is operated by Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Registration for the 2006 Disneyland Half Marathon begins Oct. 15, 2005, and participants may register online at www.disneylandhalfmarathon.com .
