Flightplan is number one film in US over weekend

Flightplan, the airline thriller starring Jodie Foster that opened Friday, was the number one film over the weekend, according to movie tracking firm Exhibitor Relations.

Flightplan was released by Touchstone Pictures, a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company.

The movie pulled in close to $24.6 million over the weekend period. It is rated PG-13 and is a thriller about the disappearance of a little girl on a new high-tech passenger aircraft.

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, a new stop-motion animation film from the popular director, pulled in $20.1 million this past weekend and was the No. 2 film in the US.
