The Disneyland Report > Disney News > Tropical Storm Arlene may become Hurricane Arlene, but storm not expected to hit Walt Disney World Disney NewsTropical Storm Arlene may become Hurricane Arlene, but storm not expected to hit Walt Disney WorldA summer potentially full of tropical storms and hurricanes has started with Tropical Storm Arlene, which has already brought high winds and rainfall to the Gulf of Mexico. Walt Disney World, although not in the direct path of Tropical Storm Arlene, has been experiencing thunderstorms, high winds, and hard rainfall, as has much of Florida. The stormy weather is expected to continue through the weekend as the storm, which may become Hurricane Arlene, makes its way up the Gulf of Mexico. Tropical Storm Arlene's expected path, according to the NOAA, has it hitting the coast of Mississippi or Louisiana. Last year, the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks were forced to close a couple of times during the worst hurricane season ever endured by the Disney resort. Three major hurricanes - Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Frances, and
Hurricane Jeanne - left damage to structures and vegetation on the Walt
Disney World property, as well as economic damage due to park closures
during busy summer weekends. Return to Disney News.
