Disneyland podcasts bring 50th anniversary celebration kickoff events to wider audience

Inspired by founder Walt Disney, the Walt Disney Company has been at the forefront of technology, embracing the latest innovations to tell new stories.

The Disneyland Resort recently continued this legacy by offering podcasts from Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration kickoff events on May 3, May 4, and May 5, 2005.

Podcasts are radio broadcasts or programs provided online as mp3 files that can be downloaded onto iPods or other personal mp3 players for listening.

To take advantage of the newly popular podcasting phenomenon, the Disneyland Resort invited Michael W. Geoghegan, one of the first podcasters and recognized as a leader in the technology's use, to offer podcasts from the media events to kick off Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration - the Happiest Homecoming on Earth.

Through the course of the three days, Geoghegan reported on the premiere of Disney's California Adventure's new Block Party Bash featuring the Disney / Pixar characters, the debut of the new Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams at Disneyland, and the first official showing of the Remember… Dreams Come True fireworks spectacular.

The Disneyland podcasts also featured interviews with celebrities, Disney Imagineers, and executives from the Walt Disney Company and the Disneyland Resort, in addition to other surprises.

Disneyland's podcasting offerings allowed Disneyland fans unable to attend the 50th anniversary kickoff celebrations at Disneyland to listen in and vicariously join in on the festivities. They provided a sneak peak of the new Disneyland rides and shows for 2005 and allowed insight into the creative minds of those who bring the Disney magic to life.
