Ben Affleck to make debut as film director for 'Gone, Baby, Gone'

He started as a screenwriter, working with Matt Damon on the highly acclaimed Good Will Hunting. He then became an actor, starring in action movies including Pearl Harbor and Daredevil. He even had a high-profile engagement and tabloid-headline grabbing split with singer Jennifer Lopez. Now, Hollywood star Ben Affleck is turning his attention to being a movie director.

Affleck has signed on to write and direct a new film based on the novel "Gone, Baby, Gone" by Dennis Lehane, who wrote the book the film "Mystic River" is based on. This will be Affleck's directorial debut.

Affleck will work on "Gone, Baby, Gone" with Touchstone Pictures, a film distribution arm of the Walt Disney Company for more movies with more mature topics. The story is about two Boston area detectives looking for a missing child.

"Gone, Baby, Gone" will begin filming in Boston later this year.
