Disney Kitchenware Collection expands with Disney Ice Shaver and Disney Ice Cream Maker

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) will unveil two new additions to its award-winning Kitchenware Collection - the Disney Ice Cream Maker and Disney Ice Shaver - launched at the Chicago International Home & Housewares Show this week (Back to Basics Booth #S1657). Playfully designed with a look reminiscent of Mickey Mouse's iconic silhouette, the appliances feature high functionality, the latest technology, and kid-friendly safety features for hours of fun in the family kitchen. Both products will be available in May at major retail outlets nationwide, just in time for hot summer gatherings.

"Recent consumer trends indicate that families want to combine fun and function with food preparation," said Chris Heatherly, general manager and director of Electronics/Appliances for DCP. "We saw this as an opportunity to combine the magic of Disney with leading technology and design, and bring families together at the heart of the home - the kitchen."

Manufactured by Back to Basics(R), the Disney Ice Cream Maker and Disney Ice Shaver complement the Disney Smoothie Maker and Disney Popcorn Popper, which were launched last fall and subsequently won "Best New Product" awards at the 2004 New York Gourmet Housewares Show.

"The Disney Kitchenware Collection provides families with safe, kid-friendly, high-quality products that are truly unique in design," said Randy Hales, CEO of Back to Basics. "This summer, families can beat the heat and create fun refreshments together, right at home."

Parents can teach their children how to help select and measure ingredients, read and follow recipes and, as a result, create delicious, nutritious homemade refreshments for the entire family.

The Disney Ice Cream Maker is bright red with white, non-slip feet and a double-insulated, freezing cylinder on top. It has a 1.5-quart capacity and a powerful, low-speed motor that keeps ice cream moving until it reaches tongue-tingling, frozen perfection. The cylinder consistently maintains low temperatures to freeze ingredients evenly, resulting in delicious, creamy-smooth ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, sorbets and other frozen treats within 30 minutes. The Disney Ice Cream Maker will be available at major retailers nationwide in May at a suggested retail price of $39.99.

The Disney Ice Shaver is playfully designed with an iconic look reminiscent of the shape of Mickey Mouse. Bright red in color with non-slip feet, its unique design includes safety features that keep the motor and blade away from little hands. Regular ice cubes become fluffy snow, and snow cone syrups can be stored and dispensed from removable "ears." A snow cone cup holder firmly keeps snow cones in place for dispensing. The Disney Ice Shaver will be available at major retailers nationwide in May at a suggested retail price of $29.99.
