eBay CEO Meg Whitman no longer wants to be considered for the top job
at the Walt Disney Company, according to a recent report from the Wall
Street Journal.
According to the newspaper, Whitman had met with members of the Walt
Disney Company board of directors about the job.
The board is currently searching for a new CEO to take the place of
longtime Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who announced last year that he
would step down in 2006.
Those familiar with the matter now consider Bob Iger, president of
the Walt Disney Company, to be the top candidate for CEO of the company
when Michael Eisner steps down in 2006.
This past week, former Disney board members Roy E. Disney and Stanley
Gold released a letter criticizing the Walt Disney Company board of
directors for an untrustworthy CEO selection process that allowed current
CEO Eisner to observe the current CEO search.
