'Million Dollar Baby' wins best picture Oscar at 77th Academy Awards
Pixar's 'The Incredibles' wins best animated feature film Oscar
While Miramax's "The Aviator" won the most Oscars with five,
Clint Eastwood's boxing drama "Million Dollar Baby" won in
the major categories of best picture and best director.
Actress Hilary Swank received the Best Actress Oscar for her role in
"Million Dollar Baby," and actor Morgan Freeman received the
Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the same film.
Actor Jamie Foxx was awarded the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal
of singer Ray Charles in the film "Ray." He is the third African-American
to win the Best Actor award.
"The Aviator" also received an Oscar for acting with Cate
Blanchett receiving the Best Supporting Actress award.
The director of "The Aviator," Martin Scorsese, did not receive
the Best Director Oscar, making this the fifth time he has been nominated
in the category without winning. He has never won an Oscar for directing.
Disney and Pixar's blockbuster computer animated hit "The Incredibles"
won the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar. Director Brad Bird was honored
for his work on "The Incredibles."
"The Incredibles" won another Oscar in the category of Achievement
in Sound Editing. Michael Silvers and Randy Thom were honored for their
work on the film.
