Tokyo Disneyland Resort to open new Raging Spirits roller coaster
at Tokyo DisneySea park
Tokyo DisneySea park at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort will soon open
a new roller coaster called Raging Spirits. The new attraction, which
will officially open on July 21, 2005, is in the themed port of Lost
River Delta. The Raging Spirits roller coaster will take guests on a
thrilling, high-speed ride through the ruins of an ancient ceremonial
site.
The back-story for the new Raging Spirits roller coaster starts with
the restoration of two giant statues unearthed in the Lost River Delta,
home of the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull.
The restoration awakens the spirits that reside within the idols, wreaking
havoc in the excavation site. The multi-headed snake statue, the symbol
of the God of Water, spews water everywhere, and the statue of the God
of Fire surrounds itself with shimmering flames.
Guests ride in hopper cars propelled along tracks around the archeological
excavation site, passing by the vengeful statues and through bursts
of water an flame before experiencing a 360-degree loop followed by
a hair-raising plunge into a steam-filled cenote (sinkhole). The roller
coaster reaches a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour and is the first
roller coaster to feature an inversion at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort.
Raging Sprits at Tokyo DisneySea will offer guests an unforgettable
journey through a mysterious and exciting world. The attraction will
serve to further enhance the atmosphere of Lost River Delta and bring
even more adventure to Tokyo DisneySea.
